Warriors’ Kevon Looney compares himself to Steph Curry after epic Game 3 vs. Kings

Kevon Looney, the Golden State Warriors center, stepped up in the absence of his teammate, Draymond Green, during a must-win Game 3 against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night. Looney’s impressive all-around effort led the undermanned team to a 114-97 victory, with him finishing the game with four points, 20 rebounds, and nine assists. Looney compared his dominant performance on the boards to what it’s like when Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson hit shots from deep. His performance also inspired his teammates as Golden State corralled 18 offensive rebounds in the game, and his nine dimes tied a career-high. The Warriors’ 24 second-chance points doubled up on the Kings, and several other areas where Looney made a massive impact.
Steve Kerr praised Looney’s performance, saying that “this is who he is,” and that “the game is much simpler when Loon is out there.” Now, the Warriors need to hold serve once more at home to make the first-round’s most exciting series a best-of-three. Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday at 12:30 (PT).
