Freeform and 20th Television are in “early development” on an adaptation of Liz Kerin’s forthcoming novel, Night’s Edge. The supernatural mother-daughter story is set to be released in June and is being developed for TV by two female writers, Kerin and Keto Shimizu, alongside executive producers Jac Schaeffer and Leslye Headland. According to the plot synopsis, the story is about Mia, who longs for a life of her own after being raised with a mother who experiences a hunger only blood can satisfy. She meets a musician named Jade and hopes to leave her home, and potentially her dangerous mother, behind. While it may seem like “another damn vampire show,” the project has a powerhouse of female talent behind it and will be one to keep an eye on. Headland, who also directed Russian Doll, will be adding her skills as director.
