Vladimir Putin beats Tom Cruise and Elon Musk in race for first movie shot in SPACE as The Challenge premieres in Moscow
Russia has become the first country to release a movie shot in space, beating the likes of Elon Musk and Tom Cruise. The film, titled “The Challenge,” features actress Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko, who traveled to the International Space Station in October 2021 to start filming. The movie tells the story of a surgeon who is launched into space to help save the life of an astronaut onboard the ISS. President Vladimir Putin praised the groundbreaking film at a Kremlin gala earlier this month. The film is estimated to have cost around £10 million, but the full amount has not been disclosed. In addition, rumors have emerged that Russia has launched an inspector satellite to spy on nearby spacecraft. The 14F150 Nivelir satellite was deployed into a Sun-Synchronous Orbit (SSO) and may serve as a covert spy craft. Meanwhile, “The Challenge” has been hailed as a major achievement for Russia’s space industry and has generated significant interest both domestically and internationally.
