The Pentagon may not have been the source of the recent leak of purported US intelligence documents, according to Fox News. The news outlet cited conversations with anonymous American defense and intelligence officials who suggested that some of the information appears to originate from outside agencies such as the CIA and the NSA. Some sources said that secure devices could be tracked to see where documents were printed. Many of the papers concern the Ukraine crisis and appear to be Pentagon briefings for senior officials. While the US government has not admitted or denied that the documents are genuine, an investigation has been launched. The papers suggested that the US was spying on some of its allies and that it exaggerated the military capabilities of Ukraine. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has promised to investigate the matter thoroughly.
