The Philadelphia Phillies were hoping to get a perennial MVP candidate when they signed Trea Turner in the offseason.

He received an 11-year contract and will spend the rest of his career in the red and white.

The start to his Phillies career was anything but easy.

He got off to a slow start and never really caught up to the expectations the city of Philadelphia set for him.

But, Turner has finally settled in and is playing at an MVP level over the past month.

In the last 30 games, Turner is hitting .339 with 12 home runs, 33 RBI, and an OPS over 1.000.

He continued his hot streak in San Diego on Monday with a home run off Rich Hill.

The turnaround for Turner has been great for the Phillies.

They are 76-61 on the year and hold sole possession of the first Wild Card spot.

Just like last season, it seems like the Phillies are getting hot at the right time.

They went from the Wild Card to the World Series last year and will have to do the same thing this season.

Looking across the league the Phillies have one of the top lineups in baseball.

One through nine they have hitters that can get the job done.

Having Turner playing up to his potential only makes this team that more dangerous.

The Phillies are hitting home runs at an astronomical rate.

If that can hold up this will be a team no one wants to see in October.
