Top prospect Victor Wembanyama officially declares for 2023 NBA draft

Victor Wembanyama, the 7-foot-5 forward/centre from France, has announced his intention to enter the 2023 NBA draft. In his statement on ESPN’s NBA Today, he stated his hope that his announcement would be big news. The 19-year-old played for Metropolitans 92 in Paris during the past season, achieving an average score of 21.4 points per game and 9.9 rebounds. Michael Grange, writing in Words By Grange, describes Wembanyama as a player who is position-less and has the ball-handling and shooting skills of a guard, as well as intelligence, poise, footspeed, and an eight-foot wingspan when defending. The 2023 NBA draft is due to be held on June 22 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The draft lottery will occur on May 16, with the Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs having the best chances of landing the first overall pick.
