A nursing student and ROTC member at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, was found dead in his car in Selma on April 15th. Joseph Banales, 22, was involved in a single-car crash and was discovered unresponsive in the driver’s seat by police. The medical examiner’s office, which determined that Banales had died from a gunshot wound to the head, declared it a homicide. Witnesses reportedly saw Banales’ car swerving before it collided with the median. Banales was returning home after dropping his girlfriend off after attending a military ball. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
