Though he is competing for a starting spot alongside two midfielders who cost Chelsea over £100m each in Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, Gallagher has been one of Pochettino’s better and more dependable players so far this season.
Gallagher has captained his boyhood club in three of their last four Premier League matches in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell.
He has also maintained his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, earning two further caps in friendly wins against Scotland and Australia over the autumn.
