MLB Will Test New Set Of Rules In The Atlantic League

Major League Baseball (MLB) is set to test a new set of rules aimed at making games more exciting in the Atlantic League. The league introduced three major rule changes for the 2023 season, with the pitch clock, larger bases and shift restrictions aimed at meeting popular fan demands. The latest rules to be tested include the use of a designated pinch runner who can re-enter later, a one-disengagement rule, and the return of the Double Hook, which means if the starter exits early so does the designated hitter (DH). The Atlantic League, which is not affiliated with minor league baseball, has a partnership with MLB to test new rules and ideas. After the season, the league will assess their acceptance among fans before making a decision.
