Today’s NFL is more pass-happy now than ever.
The new rules favor offense, and especially quarterbacks, and make it quite difficult for defensive backs to do their job.
That’s why playing cornerback is perhaps one of the toughest positions in all major sports, let alone football.
With that in mind, All-Pro CB Marlon Humphrey, via his podcast, gave praise to his list of the best five corners in today’s game.

At No. 5, he chose Philadelphia Eagles star Darius Slay, one of the most disruptive forces in the secondary in today’s game.
Then, he chose reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner, a young man with the potential to be a generational player at the position and an absolute lockdown cornerback.
At No. 3, he had no choice but to give Green Bay Packers star Jaire Alexandre the nod, although he did admit he’s not a fan of some of the things he does.
He later chose Miami Dolphins veteran Jalen Ramsey, and he claimed that he’s actually the best in business when he’s at his best.
Even so, he believes that Patrick Surtain II of the Denver Broncos is currently the best at the position, edging out Ramsey but not by much.
Whatever the case, it’s become pretty evident that no team can compete at the highest level without an elite defense, and that means they need to have someone who can lock it up at the CB position.
Humphrey isn’t so bad himself either, and it’ll be interesting to see if these rankings change at the end of the season.
