Killer Political Blow For UK’S Deputy PM: Killer political blow for UK’s karate-loving deputy PM

Dominic Raab, a former UK deputy prime minister, recently resigned following accusations of being a serial bully towards civil servants. This was not the first time Raab’s political career has encountered rough waters. He was demoted for failing to cut short his family vacation during the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul, losing his role as foreign secretary, which marked a political reversal for him. Raab was previously entrusted as the acting Prime Minister during Boris Johnson’s absence due to Covid-19. However, despite his pragmatic approach to leadership during that time, Raab’s management style has now been portrayed as hectoring, with reports that he hurled tomatoes across the room during meetings. Raab was an essential member of the UK’s Brexit team, serving as a Brexit minister under former Prime Minister Theresa May, but resigned from his post in protest at her divorce deal, which he thought offered too many concessions. Raab has a background in law, has been an international lawyer, and has worked at the Foreign Office as an adviser. He is also a black belt in karate and a keen boxer. Raab has studied law at both Oxford and Cambridge universities and practiced as an international lawyer at Linklaters before joining the Foreign Office. Raab was posted to The Hague, heading a team focused on bringing justice to war criminals, including Slobodan Milosevic, Radovan Karadzic, and Charles Taylor. Raab began his political career in 2010 in the Conservative seat of Esher and Walton, where he was given his first role in government five years later. However, Raab’s seat has grown more competitive, and the opposition Liberal Democrats have made it one of their top targets. Therefore, Raab may end up crashing out of parliament, as well as government.
