
Google is reportedly planning to incorporate the same AI technology that powers its Bard chatbot into its advertising tools. According to an internal Google presentation for ad buyers cited by the Financial Times, companies buying ads will feed text, images and video into the AI system, which will then put them together into something resembling a real ad campaign made by marketing professionals. There are concerns that AI-generated ads may spread misinformation. Bard previously got basic information wrong in its announcement and some of Google’s employees have raised ethical concerns about the chatbot. However, Google is said to be planning defences to prevent the campaigns from doing anything strange. Nevertheless, commentators warn that given the rapid pace of developments in AI, it is only a matter of time before something unexpected happens.
