Production of Western movie “Rust” is expected to resume this week in Montana following a fatal shooting on the original production in New Mexico in 2021. The shoot was halted after cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed during a rehearsal with actor Alec Baldwin, who was using a pistol. Baldwin is co-producer of the movie and will continue in his acting role. It has also been reported that a documentary about Hutchins’ life will be filmed simultaneously with “Rust”. Last month, “Rust” settled a “serious” safety review by agreeing to pay $100,000 in fines to New Mexico workplace safety regulators. The production company had already paid the fee in December after a safety review of the set where Hutchins was killed. The safety review detailed misfires on set before the shooting. Baldwin and weapons supervisor Hannah Gutierrez-Reed have pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges, and trials over their involvement in the incident are due to begin in Santa Fe soon. Widower Matthew Hutchins has proposed a wrongful death lawsuit that would make him an executive producer on a rebooted “Rust.”
