Congress workers should never do anything to damage party: CM Ashok Gehlot after Sachin Pilot’s name omitted from star campaigners list | Karnataka Election News

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has urged all Congress party workers to focus on winning the next election and raising contributions to the party without causing it any damage, in what some say is a veiled attack on party member Sachin Pilot. Pilot’s name was missing from the party’s list of star campaigners for the Karnataka assembly polls, while Gehlot’s, along with Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and national president Mallikarjun Kharge, were listed, along with former BJP member Jagadish Shettar, who recently joined the Congress. There has been a heavily reported leadership tussle between the two and Gehlot recently called Pilot “Nakama” and “Nakara” after the latter reportedly tried to unseat him. Pilot also recently protested on a day-long hunger strike, demanding that the Gehlot government met its pre-election promise for a CBI probe into alleged corruption in the previous administration. The omission of Pilot’s name from the latest star campaigners lit may indicate that the high command is turning against the young leader. Karnataka goes to the polls on 10 May and the results will be announced on 13 May.
