Coinbase CEO Is Considering Relocating Company Outside Of The U.S. Due To Unfavorable Regulation ⋆ ZyCrypto

US cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is considering a move overseas if it doesn’t see regulatory clarity emerge in the US in the coming years, CEO Brian Armstrong said at an event in London. “Anything is on the table, including relocating or whatever is necessary”, he said. Armstrong said the US had the potential to be a key crypto market but its regulatory framework was “murky”, which could force the company to invest elsewhere. He praised the UK’s clearer regulatory framework, with a single regulatory body that oversaw both securities and commodities. Earlier this week, the Securities and Exchange Commission filed charges against Seattle-based exchange Bittrex and its co-founder William Shihara for operating as an unregistered securities platform and deliberately evading regulatory scrutiny.
