Bernardo Silva says Manchester City will beat Real Madrid, but Stuart Pearce warns semi-final tie will be different to Bayern Munich triumph

Manchester City star Bernardo Silva is confident that the team will beat Real Madrid in the upcoming Champions League semi-finals. City reached the semi-finals for the third consecutive season with a 1-1 draw at Bayern Munich, ultimately going through 4-1 on aggregate. Speaking to BT Sport, Silva stated that City have learned from their past mistakes and understand that in the competition, they must sometimes defend and work hard to not give their opponents easy chances. Stuart Pearce of talkSPORT has warned City of the holders’ quality in front of goal ahead of the upcoming tie. City is yet to win the Champions League and when asked if they will get revenge against Madrid next month, Silva confidently answered: “Hopefully yes! We know how tough it is to play Madrid in this competition, we’ve got to go for it definitely. We always go for it, but we feel the team is very, very confident at the minute. I think we’re going through.” Pep Guardiola’s side are one of the favourites to win the Champions League, but Pearce is worried about the clinical nature of Madrid. City will face Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-final on 17 April before their Premier League title clash against Arsenal on 21 April.
