Bernardo Silva fires revenge warning to Real Madrid

Bernardo Silva, the Manchester City star, has expressed his belief that his side will eliminate Real Madrid from the Champions League. The English champions will meet holders Real in a rematch of last year’s semi-final. Pep Guardiola’s team lost 3-1 on the away leg, but won the home fixture 4-3 at the Etihad Stadium. However, despite taking the lead in the return leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, two stoppage time goals from Rodrygo levelled the aggregate scores and Karim Benzema scored a penalty to send Los Blancos through to the final to face Liverpool. City has struggled in Europe in recent years, but Silva said that the team is feeling “very confident” after finding their “ruthless edge” again. He remarked: “We struggled until February because we couldn’t get in that usual run we had in the past, winning 10 or 15 or 20 games in a row… Now, the team is very consistent, the way we’re playing, we feel we have a chance in every competition. We’re going for that.”
If Manchester City win, it would mark the first time they have reached the Champions League final in the club’s history. City is unbeaten in all competitions since 5 February when they were defeated 1-0 by Tottenham. City and Real Madrid have faced each other eight times since the English side made its Champions League debut in 2012, with each team winning three games apiece and two draws.
