Bayern Munich’s wastefulness likened to Chelsea by Stuart Pearce, who says ‘Harry Kane would have a field day’ against Man City

England legend Stuart Pearce has identified that Bayern Munich were lacking in someone who could convert their chances into goals, much like Chelsea. This was exemplified in their recent Champions League defeat against Manchester City, with Bayern having more possession, shots, and shots on target, but failing to really threaten Ederson in the City goal. Pearce suggested that if Harry Kane had been playing for Bayern in that match, he would have had a “field day”. Bayern’s loss to City also highlighted the absence of their second-highest scorer Robert Lewandowski, who left for Barcelona last summer, and his de facto replacement Sadio Mane, who had a poor start. On top of that, striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting was barely noticeable in the defeat. Despite their struggles, Pearce praised the performance of winger Kingsley Coman, who showed great movement and pace throughout the match. Bayern is believed to be in the hunt for a quality centre forward, with Kane being one of the names linked to the German side.
