St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright had been trying to get to 200 wins for a while.
He started the year with 195 and a role in the rotation, which led us all to believe it was a matter of time before he got to 200 victories.
It goes without saying that the road there was rocky, though.
He has a 7.40 ERA and a 1.90 WHIP in 101 innings this season, by far his worst performance as a major leaguer.
He is also 42.
But he was able to reach the incredible milestone with a flawless performance against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday.

It’s not like the Cardinals gave him too much run support: just one run (the game ended 1-0).
But Wainwright, for a night at least, turned back the clock: in seven scoreless innings, he just conceded four hits and two walks while striking out three.
It was his first scoreless outing of the season, one that helped make history just days before the end of the season and his career.
Much like Albert Pujols last year and Detroit Tigers legend Miguel Cabrera this year, Wainwright is on his farewell tour.
He might be a shell of himself at this point, but Wainwright was a true Cardinal for life and won two World Series with the team.
From his scintillating appearances as a reliever in the playoffs in the mid-2000s to his development as a staff ace in the late 2000s and early 2010s, Wainwright was everything an organization could ask for in a homegrown pitcher.
He was talented, he was loyal, and he was mostly healthy and productive.
He owns a 3.53 career ERA, which goes nicely with those 200 victories.
